Finnish President Alexander Stubb said Finland is prepared for any threat from Russia, while dismissing claims that Moscow is likely to launch a conventional attack on another European country. He credited Donald Trump with intensifying diplomatic efforts to secure peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, saying the situation was better than before Trump became involved.

Stubb said European countries were facing a broader Russian “hybrid” campaign involving cyberattacks, sabotage and damage to undersea cables, rather than an imminent invasion. He highlighted Finland’s mandatory military service, reserve force, artillery, long-range capabilities and civilian shelters, while Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that Russia could expand its aggression through drones, missiles or ground operations if Western countries failed to respond.
