Football transfer rumours: Manchester United to sign Juve’s Francisco Conceição?
The Guardian's daily transfer rumours column rounds up speculation swirling around Europe's top clubs as the summer window continues, with Manchester United reportedly leading the chase for Juventus and Portugal winger Francisco Conceição. Manchester City's John Stones has also moved closer to a switch to Inter Milan on a free transfer, while several Premier League and European clubs are said to be closing in on deals involving established stars and rising talents alike.
United are said to value the 23-year-old Conceição at around £43m and are also ahead of Chelsea for Bournemouth's Alex Scott, while Real Madrid have upped their offer to RB Leipzig to roughly £98m for teenager Yan Diomande. Liverpool are reportedly favourites to sign Paris Saint-Germain's Bradley Barcola, and Arsenal continue to be linked with both Newcastle's Bruno Guimarães and Real Madrid's Vinícius Júnior amid reports the Brazilian forward skipped training this week. Elsewhere, Leeds are close to a £40m deal for goalkeeper James Trafford, Chelsea have held talks with veterans Danny Welbeck and Jordan Henderson, and Borussia Dortmund have agreed a deal worth up to £32m for Racing Genk's Konstantinos Karetsas.
