A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support Keith Collins, the founding bassist of American heavy metal band Savatage, who is suffering from dementia. The campaign was started by Glenn Dillman, Collins's former bandmate in the group KRUNCH, to help cover living expenses and, crucially, legal costs needed to establish his identity so he can access social security benefits he currently cannot claim due to circumstances earlier in his life.

Collins played bass in Savatage's earlier incarnation as Avatar and remained through the band's first three albums, "Sirens," "The Dungeons Are Calling" and "Power Of The Night," from 1981 to 1985. Beyond Savatage, he was a fixture of the Tampa Bay music scene for decades, co-hosting the radio show "The Pit" on 98rock, publishing The Spike music magazine, and founding the Tampa Bay Metal Awards.
