Fox Officially Replaces ‘9-1-1’ in 2027
Fox has ordered a 12-episode revival of Baywatch, intended to fill the first-responder drama gap in its schedule from 2027. The move follows the success of the original series and several attempts by Fox to find a replacement for 9-1-1, which moved to ABC in 2023.
9-1-1 reportedly cost about $9 million per episode, alongside a licensing fee to Disney’s 20th Television. Its spin-off 9-1-1: Lone Star ended in February 2025, while Rescue: HI-Surf was cancelled after one season. The revival will bring back several of Baywatch’s original creators; the article says Fox has ordered 12 episodes.
