Garth Brooks has explained why country music resonates across generations, telling a Washington D.C. ABC affiliate that the genre's consistency over decades is what makes it a "family" tradition passed from grandparents to grandchildren. He noted that fans in his arena audiences already know his songs by heart, having been raised on them, which he described as a flattering experience for any artist to witness live.

The comments came as Brooks tours arenas across the United States on his "Blame It All on My Roots Tour," which began this month with four dates in Indianapolis and continues to cities including Denver and Washington D.C. Billed as a nostalgic return to smaller venues after stadium shows, the tour revives 1990s-era production elements, including his signature drum pod, and will underpin a new live album called "Killer Live," following on from his record-breaking "Double Live" release from the 1990s.
