Explained simply

Genshin Impact is a free-to-play role-playing game from Chinese developer HoYoverse. Players explore the fantasy world of Teyvat, meet characters and follow a story involving seven regions, each associated with an element and a powerful deity.

The story follows the Traveller, who searches for their missing twin while becoming involved in conflicts between nations and the Fatui, a group pursuing the seven gnoses: objects linked to the regions’ deities. The Tsaritsa, ruler of the northern nation of Snezhnaya, is the Fatui’s leader, making the region central to the game’s wider story.

Updates add story chapters, characters and events. Characters and equipment can be developed using in-game resources, while limited-time events offer additional activities and rewards.
