George W. Bush is hosting a remembrance event at his presidential centre in Dallas, Texas, to mark the 25th anniversary of the 11 September 2001 terror attacks, which occurred during his presidency. The evening event, titled "A Legacy of Service: America at the 25th Anniversary of 9/11", brings together senior current and former officials to reflect on how the attacks shaped the United States and to highlight the ongoing importance of public service, a quarter-century after the atrocity reshaped American foreign and domestic policy.

The programme, beginning at 6.30pm local time on Wednesday, includes a conversation between Bush and his former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, plus a discussion featuring the current Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman General Dan Caine and former Deputy National Security Adviser J.D. Crouch. Guests also include Paralympic veteran Melissa Stockwell and Student Veterans of America chief Jared Lyons. Bush has painted 16 artworks reflecting on the day, on display at the Bush Museum through September, and the centre is inviting the public to a further moment of remembrance with local first responders on Friday morning.
