Dee's wife Lucy, 48, and daughters Maia, 20, and Rina, 15, were shot dead by Palestinian gunmen in the Jordan Valley in April 2023, six months before the October 7 attacks; their killers' relatives remain eligible for lifelong PA payments. Prime Minister Andy Burnham and Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband sanctioned settlement goods without addressing the "pay-for-slay" scheme, a move also criticised by Chief Rabbi Sir Ephraim Mirvis, whom Miliband publicly said he disagreed with. Dee, who lives in Efrat and has since remarried, has challenged Burnham to a public debate if he believes the policy is principled rather than discriminatory.
