‘George Michael: The Faith Tour’ Concert Tour Film Acquired by Bleecker Street, Universal Pictures Content Group
Universal Pictures Content Group and Bleecker Street's event cinema division Crosswalk have acquired the concert film "George Michael: The Faith Tour", with the former handling international release and the latter distributing in North America. The film draws on previously unseen footage of the singer during the European leg of his 1988 Faith Tour, marking a significant archival release for an artist whose cultural influence continues to resonate a decade after his death.
Shot over two nights at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy using a 14-camera, 35mm setup, the film is directed by Michael's longstanding collaborators Andy Morahan and David Austin, and opens with an original short by Mary McCartney featuring an unheard interview with Michael and unseen Herb Ritts photography. It is set for a late 2026 worldwide theatrical release in premium formats, with Bleecker Street partnering with Imax on early-access US screenings. George Michael, co-founder of Wham! who died in 2016 aged 53, sold more than 100 million albums during his career.
