Faisal Razzaq jailed for leading illegal firearms supply operation
Faisal Razzaq, who was the getaway driver in the 2005 robbery that led to PC Sharon Beshenivsky’s death, has received two life sentences for his leading role in an illegal firearms supply operation. Police identified him as a supplier of reactivated blank-firing handguns to criminals in London, a case that has raised serious concern given his previous involvement in a fatal shooting of a police officer.
The operation involved Thomas McKenna, who converted the weapons at a hidden workshop in Essex. Police arrested 11 people and recovered six converted firearms and nine more awaiting conversion. In one intercepted conversation, Razzaq told an associate to shoot at police if they tried to detain him. Beshenivsky was shot dead while responding to an armed robbery in Bradford; her colleague PC Teresa Milburn was wounded but survived.
