Glenn Hughes Says He’s On the Mend After Another 10-Hour Open-Heart Surgery: ‘All Is Well’

Billboard ·

Glenn Hughes says he is recovering at home after another major heart operation, an aortic valve replacement that lasted 10 hours. The 75-year-old former Deep Purple and Black Sabbath musician said his energy is returning and thanked his medical team, offering fans reassurance about his condition.

Hughes spent eight days in hospital and said the procedure was the same one he underwent in 2013 at UCLA’s Ronald Reagan Medical Center. In August, he announced he was retiring from touring on doctors’ advice after scans and other tests indicated he needed surgery. His career has included Trapeze, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, solo albums and more recent work with Black Country Communion and The Dead Daisies.
