Google has launched Call for Me, an experimental Gemini feature that can make business phone calls on behalf of Pixel 11 owners in the US. It can ask about product availability, arrange appointments, navigate automated menus and wait on hold, while the user watches a live transcript and can take over. The feature matters because it extends AI assistants from screening calls to handling routine conversations independently.

The beta is limited to English-speaking Pixel 11 users with a Gemini subscription who join the Phone by Google public beta. Gemini will not call emergency services, but users can provide specific numbers, and Google says it will politely end calls when businesses cannot help. The company acknowledges that accents, noisy environments, unpredictable conversations and businesses mistaking the assistant for spam could cause problems, making real-world testing central to improving the system.
