The Gramado Film Festival has formalised the Young Filmmaker Residency as a permanent fixture following the conclusion of its first edition, which enrolled 60 emerging filmmakers aged 18 to 35 from nine Brazilian states. The three-day programme delivered 27 hours of instruction and mentorship from prominent figures across Brazil's film ecosystem, spanning production, distribution, and creative direction, whilst facilitating professional connections among participants with diverse regional and career backgrounds.

Festival officials plan to conduct a structured assessment of the inaugural cohort to determine potential enhancements for subsequent years. Planned evaluations include whether to maintain, expand, or subdivide participant numbers; whether to broaden or narrow the current age criteria; and whether format adjustments would strengthen outcomes. Young participants have cited the programme's value in establishing industry contacts and gaining direct knowledge from established professionals.
