Beau Greaves has made darts history by becoming the first woman to win a match on the PDC European Tour, beating Daryl Gurney 6-4 in the Czech Open in Prague. The 22-year-old from Doncaster had lost 6-5 to Rob Cross on her European Tour debut in Hungary the previous week, making this victory the first by a female player in the tour's 15-year history and another landmark achievement in her rapidly growing career.

Gurney had beaten Greaves in a deciding set at the PDC World Championship in December and led 3-1 in Prague, but Greaves fought back with three successive legs finished in 14, 13 and 11 darts to move 4-3 ahead. Gurney levelled at 4-4 before Greaves held her nerve to seal the win, describing the achievement as feeling "amazing" and praising the crowd's support. She will next face world number two Luke Humphries in the second round on Saturday, and the win adds to a list of firsts that includes becoming the first woman to win a PDC ranking title, the first to hit a nine-dart finish on the ProTour, and a third Women's World Matchplay title in July.
