Actor Robert Bogue, who played FIB agent Steve Haines in Grand Theft Auto 5, has said he auditioned for more than 60 roles in Grand Theft Auto 6 but never heard back from Rockstar Games, leaving him "down" on the studio despite previously enjoying his work with them. The comments, shared via an Instagram exchange with an X user, highlight the unusually opaque way Rockstar handles casting for its most anticipated release, and add to a recurring pattern of tension between the studio and actors from its earlier games.

Bogue, who has also voiced Red Harlow in Red Dead Revolver and Troy in GTA: The Ballad of Gay Tony, said he was never given an official rejection despite trying out for both big and small parts, comparing the experience to being dumped. He speculated Rockstar might avoid reusing actors, though he stressed he has no inside knowledge of GTA 6 beyond public information. The piece also recalls past friction between Rockstar and performers, including Niko Bellic actor Michael Hollick's pay dispute over GTA 4 and Ray Liotta's comments on Vice City wages, contrasted with warmer recent relationships involving actors like Roger Clark, Ned Luke and Shawn Fonteno.
