GTA 6 ‘demo’ delivers malware directly to your PC
Cybercriminals are exploiting excitement around Grand Theft Auto 6 by promoting fake “demo” and official-download websites styled to resemble Rockstar Games material. The downloads contain information-stealing malware rather than playable game content, putting users’ accounts and personal data at risk; Rockstar has not released a GTA 6 demo.
Malwarebytes says the software can target saved browser passwords and logins, cookies, authenticated sessions, browsing and download histories, autofill data and FTP credentials. Recent GTA 6 leaks involved only videos and screenshots, not a playable build, so any website claiming to offer one should be treated with caution, particularly if the supposed game file is unusually small.
- Fake GTA 6 demos are distributing password-stealing malware.
- Rockstar has released no playable GTA 6 demo.
- Leaks contained footage, not a downloadable game build.
