A new Sensor Tower report suggests that PlayStation 5 owners dominate early pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto 6, with Sony's marketing tie-in for Rockstar's hugely anticipated sequel apparently paying off well ahead of launch. The figures also point to strong appetite for the game's pricier premium edition, despite no direct gameplay footage having been shown publicly so far.

According to the report, 77% of pre-orders have come on PS5 compared with 23% on Xbox, out of roughly 4.38 million copies sold, of which about 3.38 million are for PS5. Around 90% of buyers have opted for the $100 Premium Edition over the standard $80 version, and Rockstar is set to reveal actual gameplay for the first time at a live-streamed Netflix showcase, "Grand Theft Auto 6: An Extended Look," on 27 August, ahead of the game's 19 November release.
