Pokémon Pokopia has introduced the Dive move, which is required to start the Bubbly Basin DLC but is available to all players free of charge through the August 2026 title update 2.0.0, meaning players do not need to purchase the Expansion Pass to access it. This matters for players wanting to explore underwater areas of the game, as it removes the paywall previously associated with progressing this part of the adventure.

To learn Dive, players must download update 2.0.0, have already learned the moves Jump and Surf, and complete Bleak Beach's "Raise the environment level!" request by reaching level 5. Once these conditions are met, players speak to Professor Tangrowth near the Bleak Beach Pokémon Center to learn of a new island, then surf north to find Manaphy, who requests five bunches of Seaweed before teaching Dive and setting a small treasure-hunting task. Underwater, Dive activates automatically on entering water, with the B button used to swim, L and R to change depth, ZL to hover, and spinning the left stick to descend quickly; note that befriending Manaphy itself still requires the Expansion Pass.
