Guitarricadelafuente on His Acclaimed Acting Debut in ‘La Bola Negra’: ‘It Was an Extension of What I Was Feeling Musically’

Guitarricadelafuente, the Spanish musician whose real name is Álvaro Lafuente, has made his acting debut in *La Bola Negra*, Spain’s selection for the 2027 Academy Awards’ international feature film race. He says playing Sebastián felt connected to his music, and the role has brought his work to audiences who may not know him as a musician.

Directed by Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi, the film follows three gay men in 1932, 1937 and 2017. Lafuente plays a young trumpeter forcibly recruited by Franco’s forces during the Spanish Civil War, and co-wrote the film’s song “La Nieve” with Raül Refree and Lucas Durán. The directors approached him after seeing him perform at Primavera Sound in 2024; he initially doubted his acting ability but accepted because he admired their work.
