Isack Hadjar has been confirmed as Max Verstappen's Red Bull team-mate for the 2027 season, a decision described by team principal Laurent Mekies as "an easy decision". The 21-year-old Frenchman, in only his second Formula One season, has impressed with his pace and composure, establishing himself as Verstappen's closest competitive team-mate since Daniel Ricciardo in 2018. His contract extension comes as he prepares to return to racing this weekend at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix after recovering from a wrist injury sustained during boxing training.

Hadjar was promoted to the senior Red Bull team at the start of this season following a rookie campaign with Racing Bulls, and has delivered strong performances despite the significant step up in competition. Over the first half of the season, he has been on average 0.239 seconds slower than Verstappen in qualifying whilst managing to out-qualify his illustrious team-mate on three occasions—in Australia, Japan, and Britain. His best result so far has been a third-place finish at Monaco, demonstrating his capacity to perform consistently at the highest level.
