Halo: Campaign Evolved Sergeant Johnson mod replaces every human NPC
A modder has released "Everyone is Sgt. Johnson" for Halo: Campaign Evolved, the recently launched early-access remaster of Bungie's 2001 shooter Halo: Combat Evolved. The mod, created by Kaleidescoop, replaces every human non-player character in the game with the fan-favourite Sergeant Avery Johnson, including major story figures such as Captain Keyes and Lieutenant Williams. It highlights how quickly the modding community has mobilised around the new release, just days into its early-access period.
Master Chief is spared from the transformation despite technically being human, as his cybernetic enhancement sets him apart. The modder has acknowledged that many voice lines break as a result of the wholesale character swap, though the game otherwise remains playable. Sergeant Johnson has been a beloved figure in the Halo series since his debut in Combat Evolved, seemingly dying on the original ring before returning in Halo 2, delivering memorable one-liners through Halo 2 and 3 until his death in the latter game in 2007.
