Swansea City head coach Vitor Matos has signed an improved contract extending his stay at the Championship club until 2030. The deal reflects the club’s confidence in his impact since his appointment last November and its desire for stability as it builds towards a more ambitious season.

Matos, 38, guided Swansea away from relegation danger to an 11th-place finish, winning 14 of his 30 league matches in charge. Swansea have reportedly spent around £15m this summer on Moussa Yeo, Elijah Just and Joseph Opoku, while Stephen Welsh joined on a free transfer; however, Ethan Galbraith has left and top scorer Zan Vipotnik’s future remains uncertain.
