Help us back UK’s dementia carers: Daily Mail launches major appeal to fund vital new support network
A UK appeal called Dementia Carers Together aims to fund a nationwide support network for unpaid dementia carers. Run with the Alzheimer’s Society, it plans to offer practical guidance and peer support to help carers manage the demands of caring and reduce isolation.
A YouGov poll found 66 per cent of current or former unpaid dementia carers do not feel well supported. It also found 72 per cent would not know where to seek advice after a relative’s diagnosis, and 76 per cent would feel unprepared for behaviour changes. The planned courses will run for six weeks, with two-hour sessions online and in person, covering practical care, entitlements and emotional resilience.
