Soul’s Remnant, a free-to-play 2D platformer MMORPG, has launched on Steam after around 10 years in development, largely by indie developer Chaosmoon. Its early reception has been strongly positive, suggesting there is demand for a retro-inspired online role-playing game that prioritises social play without pay-to-win mechanics.

The game includes classless skills, randomly generated dungeons and bosses, guilds, shared party housing, player-run shops and solo content. It features more than 40 original songs and 10 NPC villagers, reached nearly 3,000 concurrent Steam players a day after release, and is funded through optional Patreon support and cosmetic purchases rather than gameplay advantages.
