Martha Stewart has co-founded Hint, a new AI startup whose app, launched today, acts as an AI assistant for managing home maintenance and upkeep. The app aims to fill a gap in the market where homeowners lack a central tool to track the many tasks, documents and data associated with owning and running a home, positioning itself within a wider trend of AI moving beyond chatbots into practical, real-world applications.

Users start by entering their home address, letting Hint build a profile from public records covering property details, weather, soil and utilities, before uploading documents such as inspection reports, warranties, mortgages, insurance policies and invoices. The app can then advise on issues like soil and foundation risk, air quality, flood potential and energy usage, and guides owners through appliance maintenance via uploaded photos, sending proactive notifications for tasks such as filter changes or water heater flushes. Co-founder and CTO Kyle Rush said Stewart, who lives nearby, is closely involved as an equity-holding co-founder rather than a financial investor or figurehead, reviewing the app's content and design roughly twice a week. Hint began in 2024 as a tool for home decarbonisation incentives before pivoting to broader home management.
