A wildfire has broken out on Dunwich Heath in Suffolk, prompting the evacuation of hundreds of holidaymakers as firefighters work to bring it under control. The blaze is spreading towards the Sizewell B nuclear power station, situated roughly 2.5 miles away, raising concerns among emergency services, though Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service's immediate focus has been on protecting nearby holiday accommodation.

The fire began at around 5.30pm the previous evening, with around 200 caravans evacuated overnight from the Cliff House Holiday Park as a precaution. It comes amid warnings that Britain faces a risk of "exceptionally severe" wildfires as the country experiences its fourth heatwave of the year, with amber heat-health alerts in place across the East Midlands, the east, south-east and London. The public has been urged to stay away from the affected area.
