Horrific moment hotel window gives way and mom-of-two, 26, plunges to her death from seventh floor

Renata Rebeca Negrão Saldanha dos Santos, 26, died after a seventh-floor hotel corridor window gave way in São Luís, Brazil. Police are investigating the fall as an accident; the case has drawn attention to the window’s failure and left her family grieving.

CCTV showed Santos leaning against the window before its aluminium frame detached and she fell onto a canopy over the hotel entrance. Her boyfriend, who told police he had been drinking, was questioned and released; investigators say they have found no signs of aggression and have not yet determined why the frame came loose. Santos leaves two children, including a four-year-old.
