A hospital employee was killed in Riverside, California, after being struck by a driver who fled from police near Kaiser Permanente Riverside Medical Center. The death has prompted an ongoing search for the driver and has devastated the victim’s family, who had reportedly been trying to have a child through IVF.

Police said officers approached a parked car over a vehicle-code violation at about 11:40am when the driver sped away. Seconds later, the vehicle struck the pedestrian, who was believed to have been walking on a pavement near the hospital; he was later pronounced dead, and no suspect description had been released.
