Jos Buttler has become the leading run-scorer in T20 cricket history, hitting a six off Marco Jansen to move to 14,833 runs and surpass Kieron Pollard's previous record of 14,803. The England batter reached the milestone while playing for Manchester Super Giants at Old Trafford, going on to score 51 from 20 balls in his 522nd match in the format. The achievement caps a remarkable run of form for the 35-year-old, who has posted three fifty-plus scores in his last four Hundred matches and struck 131 off 64 balls against India at Southampton last month.

Buttler overtakes fellow modern greats Chris Gayle, who retired in 2022 with 14,562 runs, and Pollard, who briefly held the record after passing Gayle's tally in June. Pollard reached the milestone partly through sheer volume, having played 741 T20 matches to Buttler's 522, while England team-mate Alex Hales, who has more caps than Buttler, sits fourth on the all-time list with 14,429 runs. Buttler's tally includes 1,192 runs from 31 Hundred matches, and his career has evolved from a lower-order finisher on his 2011 England debut to the aggressive top-order run-machine now regarded as the format's greatest ever scorer.
