How Matt Doherty did in Sheffield United debut cameo as fans give their views – thestar.co.uk

Matt Doherty made his first appearance for Sheffield United as a late substitute in their 2-0 pre-season win at Rotherham United. The brief cameo gave supporters an early look at the experienced right-back after his summer arrival, although it offered limited scope to assess his longer-term impact.

Doherty had committed his future to Bramall Lane earlier that week and had not played in United’s behind-closed-doors victory over Huddersfield Town. Fans’ initial reaction was broadly positive, with the result extending an encouraging pre-season run for the Blades.
