Nintendo is holding a dedicated Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct on 8 September 2026, a standalone showcase separate from its regular Nintendo Switch 2 Direct later in the week. The stream will focus on the franchise's various projects, including its highly anticipated remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and comes as Nintendo marks four decades of the series.

The Anniversary Direct starts at 10AM ET and runs for roughly 30 minutes, streaming on YouTube and the Nintendo Today! app. Nintendo has confirmed further details on the Ocarina of Time remake, expected to launch later this year, with a release date announcement thought likely; speculation points to a pre-Black Friday launch to compete with Grand Theft Auto 6. The Direct is also expected to bring news on the Legend of Zelda film, due in cinemas on 30 April 2027, and possibly teasers for other projects such as a Wind Waker remake or the next mainline Zelda game.
