Millionaire fruit importer Amarjit Chohan disappeared in February 2003 after leaving for a supposed business meeting, followed shortly afterwards by his wife, their two infant sons and his mother-in-law. The case became a murder investigation when Chohan’s tortured body was found at Bournemouth pier, exposing an alleged plot by his employee and associate Kenneth Regan to seize the company and use it for drug smuggling.

The family’s home showed no signs of a planned departure, while Regan sent letters transferring the business and gave police changing accounts about the family’s whereabouts. Regan had a serious criminal history and had met Chohan in prison; investigators later linked him and accomplices to the family’s deaths, the burial of their bodies and their eventual disposal at sea.
