Hundreds of runners take on Halloween 10k race at Doncaster Sheffield Airport – Doncaster Free Press
Hundreds of runners took part in a Halloween-themed 10K race on the runway at Doncaster Sheffield Airport, offering participants the unusual chance to run there after dark. The event combined the challenge of a night race with Halloween costumes and decorations.
Organised by Libra Races, the chip-timed Run A Way 10K took place on Halloween, with a 2.2K fun run beforehand for younger runners and families. The airport had also hosted a 5.8km race earlier in the year, and participants in the 10K received glow-in-the-dark medals.
In short

- Families and children had a separate 2.2K fun run.
Explained simply
Doncaster Sheffield Airport is an airport near Doncaster in South Yorkshire. Its runway is the long, paved strip used by aircraft to take off and land, and it can also provide a wide, level route for organised running events.
Libra Races organised the Run A Way event as a chip-timed 10K, meaning runners’ times were recorded electronically. A shorter 2.2K fun run was held for younger runners and families, and the airport had hosted a 5.8km race earlier in the year.
The event combined distance running with Halloween costumes and decorations, while the after-dark setting made use of the runway in an unusual way. Glow-in-the-dark medals were given to 10K participants.
