Amy Hunt won the women’s 200m at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham, securing her second gold medal after taking the 100m title earlier in the week. Her victory keeps her on course to become the first athlete to win four European Championship gold medals at one tournament, with the women’s and mixed 4x100m relays still to come.

Hunt ran a season’s best 22.19 seconds, overtaking fellow Briton Dina Asher-Smith in the latter stages. Ireland’s Rhasidat Adeleke took silver with a national record, while Asher-Smith earned bronze and her ninth European medal; Britain’s Success Eduan, despite entering with one of Europe’s fastest times this year, finished sixth.
