Husband of skincare mogul who was found dead at Sunshine Coast home was struck and stabbed during a home invasion, court told

A committal hearing has heard that Zdravko Bilic, husband of Melbourne skincare entrepreneur Gry Tomte, may have been struck with a hammer as well as fatally stabbed during a home invasion at their Sunshine Coast property. Nineteen-year-old Kieysha Jade Sky appeared at Maroochydore Magistrates Court charged with murder, vehicle theft and break-in offences, with the magistrate ordering her to stand trial at the Brisbane Supreme Court after her own barrister conceded there was a case to answer. The proceedings matter because they mark a significant step towards trial in a killing that has also drawn attention to Queensland's tough new youth justice laws.

A forensic pathologist told the court an autopsy found a blunt-force injury to the back of Mr Bilic's head consistent with a hammer, though it could not determine whether this occurred before or after the fatal stab wound; no defensive knife wounds were found. Witnesses described hearing shouting and seeing two people flee to a getaway car near the Warana home on the night of 13 July 2025, roughly 20 hours before Mr Bilic's body was discovered. Two teenage boys, aged 15 and 17 at the time, have also been charged with murder under the state's "adult crime, adult time" regime and face possible mandatory life sentences if convicted. Sky was remanded in custody, with her case returning to court on 9 December.
