Hybrid-AI Mandopop Musical ‘Alishan Escape’ Set at Red Empire, OMG (EXCLUSIVE)
Australian studio Red Empire Productions and Organic Media Group have announced an animated musical project titled 'Alishan Escape: A Mandopop Ghost Adventure.' The collaboration between Red Empire founder Amie Casey and OMG co-founder Steve Chicorel uses hybrid-AI production techniques to create a theatrical animated musical intended for global audiences. The film draws creative inspiration from Taiwan's Ghost Month traditions, Buddhist philosophy, Indigenous tribal cultures, and contemporary Asian pop music.
The story centres on an international pop star travelling to Taiwan to complete a song originally composed by her late parents. During Ghost Month, she crosses into the spirit world and must recover her voice and finish the composition to return to the living realm before her concert. The creative team includes animator Greg Manwaring, whose 35-year career encompasses 'The Lion King' and 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit?', and Chicorel, a UCLA-educated writer and multi-instrumentalist who developed the story's original music and lyrics during his lengthy residence in Taiwan.
