“I Had Some Overdue Homework” – Ocarina Of Time Remake Features More Water Temple Tweaks
Eiji Aonuma says he wanted to revisit Ocarina of Time’s Water Temple, which he designed 28 years ago, and has overseen changes for the Switch 2 remake. The adjustments aim to address familiar complaints about managing equipment and finding your way through the dungeon.
Director HokWai Ng says item toggling is now mapped to the D-pad, while some opaque walls have been replaced with lattice structures so players can see adjoining rooms. Aonuma says the original design was intended to make being underwater feel different, drawing on the changing sounds and sensations he experienced while freediving; the 3DS version had already introduced its own navigation and equipment improvements.
In short
- The Water Temple gets further changes in the Switch 2 remake.
- Item toggling moves to the D-pad.
- Lattice walls make nearby rooms easier to see.
