Film editor Ian Crafford has died of cancer at his home in Brazil, aged 82. His career included acclaimed films such as “Hope and Glory” and “Field of Dreams”, and his work helped shape several prominent British and American productions across sound and picture editing.

Born in Hemel Hempstead, Crafford began at Elstree Studios aged 17 and became England’s youngest first assistant editor. He edited “Never Say Never Again”, received a BAFTA nomination for “Hope and Glory” and an ACE Eddie nomination for “Field of Dreams”; his final film was 2012’s “The Hot Potato”. He is survived by his wife, Antonia, and four children.
