Ikea unveils nine-piece Xbox gaming furniture range
Developing story first seen 2 hours ago
Ikea has confirmed further details of Yxstaby, a nine-piece gaming furniture and accessories collection created with Microsoft's Xbox division to mark the console's 25th anniversary. Rather than a purely novelty tie-in, the range is designed to blend Xbox-inspired touches into everyday home decor, reflecting what Ikea says is a shift in how people use gaming spaces – for relaxing and socialising as much as competitive play.
The nine pieces include a TV stand, laptop stand, side table, lounge chair, toolbox, stool, cushion, decorative platter and mirrored display box, several of which draw directly on Xbox controller design. The stool was developed using the controller's original 3D design files and features a grippy, textured surface, while a green X-shaped cushion and a D-pad-inspired trinket dish add further nods to the console. Functional details include a mesh storage pocket beneath the lounge chair for controllers, castors on the TV stand and side table for mobility, and neutral Scandinavian tones offset by Xbox's signature green to highlight storage compartments.
