Preserved Frank Lloyd Wright home near Minneapolis listed for $2.5m
A Frank Lloyd Wright-designed home built in 1951 near Cedar Lake, southwest of Minneapolis, is on the market for $2,495,000. Its careful preservation and distinctive design make it a notable example of Wright’s work, while its history reflects a compromise between his design principles and the original owners’ material choices.
The 2,511-square-foot, single-storey house has three bedrooms, three bathrooms and half an acre of land. Commissioned by Henry and Frieda Neils, it is the only known Wright home to use cull marble; large windows, high ceilings and open connections to the outdoors create a sense of space and frame the lake view. Built-in desks and storage remain, and the owner can restore original bedroom arrangements; a two-car garage was added later.
- Wright’s 1951 Minnesota home is listed for $2.495 million.
- The house is the only known Wright design to use cull marble.
- Its windows and open layout frame views of Cedar Lake.
