Inside NBC News’ Bid to Break Out From Election-Night Pack
NBC News is expanding its US midterm Election Night coverage, planning 13 hours on television and additional programming across digital platforms. The effort reflects the network’s attempt to remain a trusted source as audiences turn to a wider range of news providers and early vote counts can be misleading.
Tom Llamas, Savannah Guthrie, Kristen Welker and Hallie Jackson are scheduled to anchor from 6.30pm until at least 2am, with Craig Melvin and Kate Snow continuing until 6am. NBC will also stream Steve Kornacki’s analysis and launch a vertical-video programme from Gadi Schwartz, while using new graphics to explain race projections and how the Decision Desk reaches them.
In short
- NBC plans 13 hours of TV election coverage.
- Digital programming will include Steve Kornacki’s data analysis.
