Insta360 has released the Luna Pro, a compact single-lens steadicam that undercuts its own dual-lens Luna Ultra while adding a feature DJI's rival Osmo Pocket 4 lacks: 4K vertical video recording. The launch matters because it gives Insta360 another edge over DJI in the pocket gimbal market, particularly in the US, where the Osmo Pocket 4 is officially unavailable following a ban on DJI.

The Luna Pro largely mirrors the Ultra, sharing its 1-inch-type 8K sensor, detachable 2-inch touchscreen remote, four-hour battery life and NFC tag for fast file transfers, but drops the Ultra's telephoto lens to become smaller and lighter. Its key upgrade is the ability to use that 8K sensor to shoot 4K vertical video at 30fps, unlike the Ultra and DJI's Osmo Pocket 4/4P, which cap portrait recording at 3K. The Luna Pro costs $599.99 in the US (versus $769.99 for the Ultra) and starts at £469/€529 in Europe, slightly above the DJI Osmo Pocket 4's £429/€479.
