‘It came out of nowhere. I was shocked and sad’: He was the face of Hunt: Showdown for years, then Crytek laid him off
Crytek laid off Bence “Beadyboy” Hamos in September, ending his nearly nine-year run as a community-facing figure for Hunt: Showdown. His sudden departure upset many players who had come to rely on his livestreams and videos for updates, and highlighted the loss of a familiar link between the game’s developers and its community.
Hamos joined Crytek in 2018 in an entry-level social media role, despite having no games-industry experience, and later became senior broadcast manager. He said he played more than 2,000 to 3,000 hours of Hunt in his own time so he could understand players’ concerns as well as the studio’s plans. The layoffs affected at least 30 people, according to the article.
