James Bond Star Officially Confirms Franchise Exit Ahead of Denis Villeneuve’s Reboot
Ben Whishaw has confirmed he will not return as Q in Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming James Bond reboot, ending his run as the MI6 gadget expert. He says the franchise needs complete reinvention because the world has changed since the last Bond film.
Whishaw first played Q in 2012’s *Skyfall*, then reprised the role in *Spectre* and *No Time to Die*. His younger, technology-focused take replaced the more traditional gadget-master portrayals associated with Desmond Llewelyn and John Cleese; the reboot is being prepared for a new generation.
In short
- Ben Whishaw will not return as Q in the Bond reboot.
- He played the role in three films opposite Daniel Craig.
