James Gunn Gives DCU Update Amid Paramount-Warner Bros. Merger & Debunks Batman’s ‘The Brave & The Bold’ Report

Deadline · 4 hours ago

James Gunn has said that no DC Studios projects are paused despite uncertainty surrounding the proposed Paramount–Warner Bros. merger. He specifically rejected a report suggesting that Batman: The Brave and the Bold had been put on hold, signalling that DCU development is continuing as planned.

Gunn said the alleged comment from director Andy Muschietti did not sound credible, while confirming the Batman project remains active. The film, separate from Matt Reeves’ The Batman, is intended to feature Bruce Wayne and his son Damian as Robin; Christina Hodson is writing and Muschietti is attached to direct. DC Studios’ wider Chapter One: Gods and Monsters has recently expanded with Lanterns, while Superman: Man of Tomorrow is scheduled for 9 July 2027.

  • Gunn says DC Studios development is not paused.
  • The Brave and the Bold remains in active development.
  • Superman: Man of Tomorrow opens in July 2027.
