Jennifer Lawrence Quotes ‘The Hunger Games’ While Urging Fans to Vote on Election Day: ‘Don’t Forget Who Burns With Us’

Jennifer Lawrence urged fans to vote in the US midterm elections, despite having previously expressed doubts about celebrities speaking publicly on politics. Her post drew on Katniss Everdeen’s rebellion in “The Hunger Games”, prompting some fans to read it as an indirect political message, though Lawrence did not endorse a candidate.

She shared a photo making the franchise’s three-finger salute with her 8.7 million Instagram followers and wrote, “Midterms [baby]. Don’t forget who burns with us. Go vote.” The phrase comes from Katniss’s speech in 2014’s “Mockingjay Part 1”; Lawrence also linked to Vote.org for polling information. She is due to reprise the role in “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping”, which opens in cinemas on 20 November.
