Apple TV has rescheduled Jessica Chastain’s thriller series The Savant for spring 2027, after postponing its planned September 2025 premiere. The delay followed concerns that its storyline about preventing extremist attacks, including sniper imagery, could be triggering shortly after the assassination of political activist Charlie Kirk; the new release is expected to qualify for the 2027 Emmys.

The series stars Chastain as an undercover investigator who infiltrates online hate groups to prevent domestic extremist attacks. Created by Melissa James Gibson, The Savant also features Cole Doman, Jordana Spiro, Pablo Schreiber and James Badge Dale, with production involving Fifth Season, Anonymous Content and Chastain’s Freckle Films.
