Joan Jett is an American rock singer and guitarist best known for the 1980 hit I Love Rock ’n’ Roll and for leading the band Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. She first became known in the 1970s with the all-female rock group the Runaways, before building a long solo career.

A fractured vertebra is a break in one of the bones of the spine. Orthopaedic surgery and physical therapy are used to help treat injuries affecting bones, joints and muscles, and recovery can require time away from physically demanding work such as touring.

Jett has continued to perform and record over several decades, with the Blackhearts as her regular backing band. Festival and fair appearances are a significant part of live music schedules in the United States, bringing established artists to audiences beyond their usual concert tours.
