Jon Stewart to Remain The Daily Show Host Through End of Trump’s Presidency

Jon Stewart has signed a new two-year deal to host Monday episodes of The Daily Show through December 2028 and remain an executive producer. His extended tenure will span another US presidential election year, offering continuity in a late-night television scene that has recently faced disruption.

Stewart returned to the programme in February 2024, after his original run from 1999 to 2015. Ronny Chieng, Josh Johnson, Jordan Klepper, Michael Kosta and Desi Lydic will continue rotating as hosts from Tuesday to Thursday. Since Stewart’s return, the show has received 15 Emmy nominations and won two; CBS ended The Late Show after Stephen Colbert’s finale in May, and ABC temporarily took Jimmy Kimmel Live! off air in 2025.
