Josh Homme on reworking Iggy Pop collab ‘Sunday’ for Queens Of The Stone Age’s ‘Perfecth’ – and if they’ll work together again
Josh Homme has explained why Queens Of The Stone Age revisited ‘Sunday’ for their new album, ‘Perfecth’. The song began as a track he wrote for Iggy Pop’s 2016 album ‘Post Pop Depression’, and Homme said he wanted to present it as something they shared rather than keep it for himself.
Homme said ‘Perfecth’ needed a bubbling, 1970s French disco feel, which ‘Sunday’ provided. He joked that Pop hated the new version, then clarified that it had Pop’s blessing; he is open to working with him again, but said collaborations cannot be forced. ‘Perfecth’, QOTSA’s ninth album, was released on 30 October, and the band have live dates planned across several regions.
In short
- QOTSA reworked ‘Sunday’ for ‘Perfecth’.
- Homme says Iggy Pop approved the new version.
- Homme is open to another collaboration, if it happens naturally.
